YHT Reader Contributions!

Do you guys remember me blogging about my frustrations with submitting resumes online, and how the computers always filter out my resume based on keywords? Well, faithful YHT reader, Conrad, wrote me a note from the UK with this "bloody awesome" advice:
Anyway, I noted your frustration at job application rejections by computer. I was recently considering leaving the military and managed to get on an excellent course all about getting back out into the civilian job market. One little gem they showed us was to put all the essential keywords from the job advert in white text in the footer, the computer searches for text and can still pick up the words even though they are not visible when the application or CV is printed off. It gets you past that first cut and hopefully lets you get to the interview stage.
Why didn't I think of that? That's a freakin' GENIUS idea and I had to share with the rest of you guys! Thanks for the tip, Conrad!

In other news, YHT readers James and Maria are getting married, and they've created a wiki that documents some info about their lives before they met and during their engagement. They created a little wiki entry about YHT and how it's impacted their relationship. You can check it out by clicking here.

Monday's Blog - Fair and Balanced

Today's Comic

Battlemouth.com . . .

My buddy Mike Kumlin recently asked me to draw a sticker design for his website, Battlemouth.com. He liked it so much that he made it into the header for the site. So go check it out right now!

Battlemouth.com is basically a review/opinion site for anything related to pop culture. It's a smorgasbord of pop culture, if you will. We're talking movies, books, music, comics, TV, etc. It's pretty cool, and Mike is a nice guy.

Here's a pic of Mike and I in New Hampshire. I'm thinking about hiring him for my entourage.

Original Art Sale . . .

I've decided to sell a couple pieces of original artwork. The two strips that are up for grabs are this strip from February 5th, and this strip from March 5th. Both strips are $100 each, and I'll toss in a glossy print of the strip as well as a pencil sketch. There's really no time limit on these strips, but they're first come/first serve.

Also, I just want to remind you guys that prints of your favorite strips are always available for $15. Just let me know what strip you'd like to have, and I'll mail the print to you along with a small sketch.

Finally, I still have about 13 limited prints still available. You can pick up a limited print for $20 and I'll toss in a sketch, too.

Plugs A-Plenty

Today's Comic

The Gigcast . . .

If you like webcomics and you like podcasts, you need to check out the Gigcast. It's a wonderfully produced podcast about webcomics, and it's definitely worthy of your attention. Heck, I was even interviewed by the Gigcast crew last year in anticipation of Vol. 1!

On this week's episode of the Gigcast, the guys talk about the upcoming YHT one-shot and say some really kind words about my strip. JT and Scott have always been very supportive of my comic, so I think it's only fitting that we send those guys some love from YHT-ville.

Cow and Buffalo . . .

I just found this most excellent comic strip on the world wide interwebs. It's called Cow and Buffalo, and, believe it or not, it's about a cow and a buffalo. It's a charming comic that's updated once a week on Sundays. The cartoon is drawn by Mike Maihack, and I love his cartooning style. His cartoons are very "spare", yet still a lot of fun to look at!

Go check out Cow and Buffalo immediately! And, while you're at it, check out the entire Lunchbox Funnies collective. There's some good stuff over there.

Reminder . . .

Just a reminder to you guys to continue chiming in on your favorite comics! If you'd rather not join a public discussion, you can simply shoot me an e-mail describing your favorite YHT comic strip(s)! Whatever floats your boat!

While we're discussing e-mails, make sure to e-mail me your questions, comments, and/or complaints so I can publish them in the 32-page one-shot coming out this summer! I want to fill two pages, so start sending me your letters! Thanks, guys!

There's still a lot of cool information to be discussed about the one-shot, but I'll discuss it later when those things are set in stone! Stay tuned!

Totally Geeked

So, I noticed a sizeable spike in traffic yesterday and today, and I came to find out that my comic has been linked to by the folks at Applegeeks. Anybody here read Applegeeks? If not, head on over there so I can return the favor. It's high-quality, comicky goodness.

To those of you who are visiting via the Applegeeks link, I'd like to apologize for the lack of new material the past few weeks. I'm taking a short hiatus from my comic strip so I can work on another project for Viper called Sasquatch. The comics I'm posting right now are from my submissions to newspaper syndicates, and they're about four years old and very mediocre. New strips will begin updating on Monday, February 5th.

In the meantime, you should hang around and give us a shout on the message board!

Thanks for stopping by, and thanks to Hawk and Ananth for the linkage!
