The NEW Steve Comes With No Hair - Standard!

Bollocks . . .

I've been watching a lot of BBC America, particularly Chef Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares. I know a lot of people can't stand that guy, but I think he's awesome. He likes to say "bollocks" a lot, usually prefaced by the "F" word. So now I've been saying "bollocks" a lot, and I also used the word "nicked" in reference to someone stealing something. It's like I'm trying to pull a "Madonna" by changing my vocabulary and dialect and stuff! Well, maybe not that bad . . .

Books . . .

I mailed out another batch of books today, so a few of you should see some packages from me in the next couple of days. The demand for the YHT bundle has been tremendous, and I'm now out of copies of Vol. 1. But don't worry, I'm getting more in stock! So if you'd like to pick up the YHT Bundle (YHT Vol. 1, Vol. 2, and the one-shot comic book) for a mere $10 and NO SHIPPING, shoot me an e-mail at wesmolebash@gmail.com! I'll ship out your bundle as soon as I my stock of books is replenished!

Also, when I say NO SHIPPING I mean NO SHIPPING. Even for international orders. Ten U.S. dollars will get you three books shipped anywhere in the world until May 30. That's when the free shipping ends deal ends. So make sure to get your orders in before the deadline!

Mahatma Steve

This is Steve's new look. Like it or not, you'll have to deal with it. I was sick of drawing the hoodie and the Smurf hat.

I really liked the background art in today's strip, and I was disappointed because a lot of it ended up being covered up by the foreground art and word balloons. So I saved the background art by itself and uploaded it to my flickr account. I'm gonna start saving all my favorite backgrounds so you guys can check 'em out on flickr.

Books . . .

I just got back from the Post Office where I dropped off FIFTY-ONE books to be shipped to several YHT readers! Needless to say, the stack of books I had as a trial run for the book sale is very nearly depleted, and the orders are still coming in! I talked to Jessie Garza at Viper, though, and we've got more books being sent my way. No worries.

Just a reminder that the YHT Book Bundle (Vol. 1, Vol. 2, and the 32-page comic book) will be on sale for $10 with NO SHIPPING until May 30! So make sure you get your orders in to avoid those pesky shipping charges which will be rearing their ugly heads in June! Yuck!

To place an order for your YHT books, just send me an e-mail (wesmolebash@gmail.com) telling me what books you'd like to buy (Vol. 1, Vol. 2, the one shot, or the entire bundle). I'll send you a PayPal invoice straight away!

YHT Wall of Awesomeness . . .

YHT reader Ramon Guel recently snagged some of the original artwork I recently auctioned off on eBay. He sent in this picture of all the YHT goodness hanging on his wall. Check it out:

IMG_0519

IMG_0522
Not only does Ramon have great taste in comics, but he's also a stud, ladies!

Thanks for the pics, Ramon! The wall looks great and it's a great feeling knowing you're taking care of my artwork!

If anyone else would like to show off their YHT Walls of Awesomeness, just send your pics to me at wesmolebash@gmail.com! I'll post 'em in the blog!

I WILL GET MORE BOOKS FROM THE PUBLISHER WHEN I RUN OUT! All orders for YHT Bundle Packs that are placed on or before May 30, 2008 will receive free shipping. If you have any questions just shoot me an e-mail!

Here are some pics of the books for those of you wondering about the quality:

This is a picture of me at a signing in New Hampshire. Both YHT Vol. 1 and Vol. 2 are 64-pages and perfect bound. Vol. 1 has a glossy cover and Vol. 2 has a matte cover.

Here's a picture of the 32-page one-shot comic book with the Limited Edition cover. The one-shot is a very sharp book! The front and back are a heavy, durable stock, and the interior pages are nice and glossy! The regular (or standard) cover was drawn by Scott Kurtz.

Here's a close-up of all 3 books together. My wife put these little bundles together at a convention we attended last year around Christmas-time.

Monday Tidbits

eBay . . .

Thanks to everyone who bid on the Katie drawings this week! The extra money is gonna go a long way in helping me buy some art supplies, many of which I'm running quite low on!

If you didn't get to win a piece of art this month, don't worry. I'm gonna try to auction off some artwork every month on eBay. I've got a drawer full of art I've accumulated over the past three-plus years, and it's begging to be cleaned out! So keep your eyes peeled!

To the winners of the Katie drawings, I'll have your artwork in the mail by Thursday at the very latest. I've gotta work overtime at the day job for the next couple of days, and that makes it hard to get to the Post Office. Once the items ship, it'll only take 2 or 3 days to get to you! Thanks for your patience!

Boxcar News . . .

Some cool stuff is going down over at Boxcar Comics. First of all, my Boxcar cronies and I have been drawing jam comics, and the first Boxcar Jam Session is available to look at now. We're currently working on the second jam comic which should be published very soon.

Also, we've started a podcast called the Boxcar Comics Hobo Jamboree. It'll be a monthly podcast where we discuss cartooning and comics, and the first episode is available now. I wasn't able to be a part of this episode, but I'll be on future episodes fo' sho.

No Zuda For You!

Well, the final votes have been cast and tallied, and after a whirlwind month The Litterbox Chronicles have finished in second place in the Zuda competition for the month of March. Congratulations go out to the creators of Black Cherry Bombshells for winning the competition. They'll now get a contract offer from Zuda and DC, and hopefully we'll see new BCB strips in the coming weeks/months.

I just want to take the time to thank all you YHT readers for showing up and voting for LBC. We made quite an impression despite not winning the competition, and that's all I could really ask for. In particular, I'd like to thank:

- Drew and Allison Bennett (and little Eva, too!) for being a hardcore YHT fans and always helping me out when I need some promotion.

- Edgar Verona for being a hardcore new reader and leaving a ton of comments on the LBC page, as well as other Zuda competitors' pages. That was classy.

- Mike Kumlin and the Battlemouth.com peeps. You guys showed up in full force and got the attention of several Zuda readers, contributors, and contestants. I thought that was awesome!

- Rick Marshall for the interview and supporting me and YHT (as well as LBC this month). You're an asset to webcomics, Rick.

- Everybody who wrote blog posts and message board posts telling people to vote for LBC. I appreciate the help with the grassroots guerilla marketing. It helped exponentially!

At this point, I'm not sure what the future of LBC will be. I've got more ideas for the strip, but I also have ideas for other strips and comic projects. I'm not sure what to pursue first, or if I should even pursue them at all right now. I've got time to think about it. In the meantime, let me know if you think LBC is something you'd like to see continued. Maybe I could tweak it a little bit and find another place to publish it. Who knows. Lots of ideas, so little time.

In YHT news, I'm taking a break from the Steve/Emaline storyline this week. Things will kick back in next week. Stay tuned!

Back in the Swing of Things

Alright, guys. I think I'm through the worst of it. I felt pretty good on Saturday, but I took the opportunity to rest all day before going back to work. Then on Sunday my fever returned and I felt horrid again. But today I feel pretty much back on track despite a little bit of a cough. I can handle that, though.

I posted Friday's strip today, and I'll try to post another twofer on Wednesday. That should get us all caught up on things around here. I appreciate everyone's patience while I recovered from my near-deadly illness.

In other news, the Litterbox Chronicles is back in first place in the Zuda competition! But the race is very close, so make sure to go vote for LBC if you haven't already! There's only a week left in the competition (the last day of the contest is Monday, March 31)! If you've already voted, why not tell your friends and family members to check it out, too? You could even blog about it! That would be extremely rad! Thanks for all the support!

- Wes

I do appreciate all the support LBC has received this month

Zuda Ranking Update!

The competition ranking at Zuda Comics was updated yesterday, and Litterbox Chronicles has slipped into 2nd place! But we're still in the game, peeps!

If you haven't checked out the comic yet, make sure to head over to the Litterbox site and give it a look! And while you're there, register an account at Zuda so you can vote for my comic and add it to your "favorites". There's still a lot of time in the competition, so make sure to spread the word by telling your friends and blogging about it!

Thanks guys!

Zuda Competition Update

Throughout the month, the editors at Zuda will update the rankings among the ten comics competing in the March Competition. The first update to the rankings has just been posted, and guess what? . . . The Litterbox Chronicles is currently number one - but barely! There's some excellent and worthy competition at Zuda right now, and they're definitely giving me a run for my money! I'm really gonna need your help and support in order for my comic to stay in the running, so please - if you haven't already - visit the Litterbox site and give me a vote, an add to your "favorites", and a comment. I'd truly appreciate it! And, while you're there, check out the rest of the competition. You might be surprised by the level of talent over there!

Boxcar Comics . . .

The webcomic collection that I'm involved with, Boxcar Comics, has recently relauched its website and updated the roster of talent! Go check out the new site, new list of talent, and bookmark your faves! We've got a strong stable of cartoonists, and I'm looking forward to working with a reinvigorated group of like-minded guys. Look for some cool stuff coming from Boxcar this year!

Wednesdayin' It

Getting ready to go into work a little early today. Nothing like going in early to a job that's laying you off in a few months! Smiles, everybody!

I promise I'm not bitter . . .

Anyway, the Zuda competition has been awesome so far. It's still very early in the contest (we still have the entire month of March to get through!), but so far The Litterbox Chronicles has made a great showing at the site. Thanks to everyone who has signed up and voted! It's much appreciated! Please make sure to spread the word as the month progresses, though. We've still got a mighty mountain to climb!

In YHT news, how about this storyline, huh? Did today's strip catch any of you off guard? Huh? Huh? Nice twist, eh? You don't have to tell me. I'm patting myself on the back. :)

Wes Molebash on Zuda Comics!

*UPDATE*
Thanks to everyone who's voted so far and left comments! I forgot to mention that you should also add my comic to your favorites as well! You'll see the option right next to the strip under the vote button! Thanks guys!

Today, Monday, March 3, my new comic strip "The Litterbox Chronicles" debuts on zudacomics.com. If you're unfamiliar with Zuda, I'll give you a quick description of the site and how it operates: Zuda is a website owned by DC Comics (publishers of Batman and Superman) that was launched last October. In December, the site began holding monthly competitions among 8 comics creators vying for a contract from Zuda Comics. In order to win, a creator must receive the highest number of votes among all the competitors. The votes are placed by readers who visit the site during the competition. Think of it as American Idol for cartoonists.

The best part of this whole deal is that I get paid. I'll make $500 just for being in the competition, and I'll earn an additional $12500 if I win. As you can imagine, I really want to win!

I don't know if you guys remember, but I posted several "Litterbox" strips in the YHT message boards for you guys and gals to comment on. You guys really helped me out when it came to the designs of the characters and the title of the strip. Well now it's up and it's being published at Zuda! I think that's pretty rad!

So now we've come to the part where I ask for your help. Before I ask for your help, however, I'd like to provide a direct link to "The Litterbox Chronicles". You can check it out at the following address:

http://zudacomics.com/node/326

Okay, now that you've got the site address, here's how you can help:

1. Vote for my comic. To do this, you must register at Zuda. It's simple and it's free. At the top, right-hand side of the site you'll see a button that says "Sign Up!". Click that button and follow the steps. If you've ever signed up for anything on the internet, you'll speed through the Zuda sign-up with flying colors. Once you're logged in, you can vote for my comic (or any comic on the site for that matter).

It's important to note that you only get ONE vote per user name for the entire month. So don't worry about coming back everyday to vote - it won't work. Also, please don't make up a bunch of different user names to stuff the ballot box. I appreciate the effort, but DC Comics checks IP addresses - they'll be able to tell if multiple votes are coming from the same computer. If anything looks suspicious they'll discount ALL the votes. So just play it safe and vote once!

2. Give me five stars. When viewing my comic, you'll see a series of five stars under the big "VOTE" button. Click on the fifth star to give me a five-star rating. According to the website, Zuda pays attention to the ratings, as well as the votes, that each comic earns from its readers.

3. Leave comments. Zuda also says that they take into account how many comments are left on each comic strip's page. The comments can be viewed directly underneath each comic. To leave a comment, simply scroll down to the bottom of the page and you'll see a field that says "Post a comment". Type your comment in the field and hit "preview comment". Simple as that.

If you guys and gals have time to do those three steps, I'd truly truly truly appreciate it!

In case any of you would like to do more to help me out, there are a few things that you could do that would be super helpful:

- You could blog about my involvement in the competition and let your readers know how to place their votes.
- You could send out a bulletin on Myspace or Facebook and let your friends know what's going down with my comic strip.
- You could spread the word on any message boards or community websites that you visit.
- You could e-mail your friends and let them know how they can support an awesome, yet starving, cartoonist!

Thanks for all your help, and feel free to ask me any questions in the comments section of the blog!

Theoretically Huge Announcement!

Make sure you guys stop by the site this Monday for a HUGE announcement . . . at least in theory. I mean, it's a pretty big deal to me, but it may seem rather insignificant to other people - namely other cartoonists. But who knows? Maybe they'll think it's cool, too.

At any rate, tune in on Monday for some exciting news regardless of the size or importance of the aforementioned news. Theoretically speaking, of course.

- Wes

P.S. I think today's comic is one of the funniest I've ever written in my entire life. I should retire from cartooning because I have obviously peaked. It's only gonna get worse from here.

Post-Holiday Updates

iMaccin' . . .

This is my first blog post written on my brand new Apple iMac. I'm very tickled with this new computer, but I'm still figuring out a lot of stuff. I downloaded Quicksilver because a few people told me that it was an outstanding program, but I'm still not sure what it does exactly. I'll figure it out, though.

This is my first Apple computer (I don't count my wife's MacBook because, technically, that's not MY computer), so it may take me a little while to get acclimated to the way the Mac OS works. I'm up for the challenge, though!

Here's a picture I took of myself using PhotoBooth, a fun Mac diversion:

Photobucket

That's not my office in the background. My wife and I are staying in my brother-in-law's room while we're here in Michigan. I feel bad because his room is currently littered with our clean and dirty clothes, a pile of unwrapped gifts, and other miscellaneous junk. Sorry, Dallas. We'll be outta here soon.

Quick Reminder . . .

Just a quick reminder that YHT will return to a three-day-a-week schedule starting Monday, Dec. 31. The site was down for a few days, and I just wanted to remind everyone that the lack of five comic strips next week is intentional and has nothing to do with domain names and DNS servers. :)

YHT Newsletter . . .

It's never to late to sign up for the YHT Newsletter! Just shoot me an e-mail at wesmolebash@gmail.com and I'll add you to the mailing list!

Dashing Through The Snow

Today's Comic

YHT in 2008: Is the Strip Gonna Suck, Now? . . .

A handful of people have asked or made comments about how the three-day-a-week schedule will affect storylines and continuity. To be honest, I was wondering that myself. But last night I sat down with my notebook to do some writing, and I got into a "zone" so to speak. The ideas were flowing like the wine in Capastrano . . . or something.

Anyway, for those of you who are wondering, the first three months of 2008 will be mostly stories, including one HUGE storyline that I can't wait to start drawing! I think there are only a handful of stand-alone gags, and I threw those in there just to break up the continuity a little bit.

A lot of you have said that you prefer the longer storylines as opposed to the gag-a-day format, so hopefully you'll be relieved that the three-day-a-week schedule won't derail my attempts at continuity. I still work very hard to make sure each strip stands on its own, so don't worry all you "gag-a-dayers" out there - there will still be plenty of funny stuff to print out and hang on your refrigerator!

YHT Newsletter . . .

I've been beating around the bush on this idea for a while now, and it's time to just do it. I'm starting up a monthly YHT newsletter that will contain a lot of the info that we talk about in the blog here, but will also contain some behind-the-scenes info, contests, and updates on future projects (I told you that 2008 is the year I start working on some new stuff, and I'm not lyin').

So if you'd like to sign up for the newsletter, just shoot me an e-mail (wesmolebash@gmail.com) and let me know. No need to write me a long e-mail - just tell me you want to subscribe to the newsletter. It's as easy as that.

The first newsletter will go out in January.

No More Commissions Until 2008! . . .

I've finally caught up on all my commissions for the year, and I'm not taking anymore commission work until 2008! I'm spending the next two weeks getting caught up on YHT, and then I'm going to Michigan to enjoy Christmas with my in-laws. If I take anymore commissions there's no way I could get them done by Christmas.

Thanks to everyone who bought commissions from me over the past few months. I've pretty much got all the money I need to buy my new iMac! What an awesome feeling to know I'm about to buy my first Mac entirely with money I earned from cartooning! It's very satisfying! You guys made it happen, and I'm very grateful to you all!

Thanks again!

Universe: 1, Wes Molebash: 0

Today's Comic

You Win THIS TIME, Universe . . .

Life has finally caught up with me and punched me in the face, people. Hence the lack of a new comic strip today. Unfortunately, there won't be any new comics this week as I have fallen behind in my drawing, and my regular work schedule has kicked into overdrive this week.

2007 has thus far been the busiest year of my life, both personally and with the comic strip. I thought things would finally slow down after the San Diego Comic Con, but things have remained steady if not a little busier. While being busy is definitely a good thing, I was woefully unprepared for all this stuff! I used to be a week ahead in the drawing of my comic strip, but the last few months I've only been a day ahead! I'll scramble to get back on track only to get sidetracked by something else that needs my attention.

The final nail in the coffin came this weekend. I had all my drawing boards prepared on Friday to get some serious cartooning done this weekend, but I ended up getting stuck working TWO 16-hour shifts at work - one on Saturday and one on Sunday. Bye bye weekend. On top of that, I've got to work three 12-hour shifts this week, and my mother-in-law is coming to town tomorrow evening for a visit. The idea of trying to stay on top of the comic strip this week seemed quite daunting, so I've decided to do something different this week.

YHT is coming up on it's third anniversary! Hard to believe I've been doing this for three years! So, I thought I'd publish the first five comic strips of the series along with a little commentary in the blog. I think it'll be a fun retrospective, so be sure to let me know what you think!

New comics begin next Monday with a tasty little storyline! More character development is comin'!

Apple Store . . .

This is the comic I consider to be the first YHT comic strip. It's currently hanging in the landing of the first floor staircase in my house. When we first launched YHT at Viper, we did a "soft launch" on the message boards by posting one strip a week for three weeks just to get a "buzz" going. The Apple Store strip was the first of those strips, and it's based on personal experiences.

When my wife and I first started dating, she told me about how much she hated Apple computers. She had had a bad experience with an Apple a couple years prior to our meeting, and it left a bad taste in her mouth. In fact, you couldn't even mention the word "Apple" around Tricia without her rolling her eyes in disgust!

There's a mall in Columbus that Trish and I frequent, and I always like to visit the Apple Store to see what's new. Until recently, Tricia hated the Apple Store and refused to go in with me. However, things change over the course of a three-year marriage, and Tricia, upon seeing her brother's brand new MacBook, found herself in dire need of a new laptop. But not just any laptop. It had to be a MacBook. So now my wife taps around on her MacBook and I feel as though she has morphed into a different person. I don't know who this woman is anymore, and, frankly, I'm scared.

Various Stuff

Today's Comic

Art Sale!!!! . . .

I need a new computer. My Dell Dimension 4500 has served me well these past few years, but he's become increasingly slow and loud. I've upgraded the RAM and I've blown his insides out with canned air, but he's still a little noisy and sluggish. I think it's time to retire him from battle and let him be a "homework" or "net surfing" machine for some kid out there.

Unfortunately, new computers aren't cheap and I don't have lots of money. So, I've decided to hike up my pants, put my game face on, and part with some original comic strip artwork.

If you'd like to purchase the original artwork to your favorite YHT comic strip, here's what you gotta do:

- Send me an e-mail (wesmolebash@gmail.com) describing the strip you'd like to purchase. If you have the date it was originally published, that'd be great.

- I'll then send a bill via PayPal to your e-mail address. You don't have to be signed up with PayPal to pay through PayPal. PayPal accepts all major credit cards and e-checks.

Each strip costs $100 plus $5 for shipping. I'll also toss in a nice print of the comic strip as it appeared on the site (cleaned up and with gray tones). Both the strip and the print will be signed.

If you'd like to just purchase a print of your favorite strip, I'm still selling those for $15 (that includes shipping!).

On top of all this, you can commission me for a black-and-white inked drawing for $75. For $100 you can have a black-and-white inked drawing AND a color print on 8X10 glossy paper! Add $5 shipping for commissions.

So there you go. Hopefully some of you are interested in purchasing some artwork. You'd really be helping me out!

If you have any questions, please e-mail me at wesmolebash@gmail.com!

Boy vs. Door . . .

My buddy JD has a blog that you guys should check out. If you like bicycling and enjoy humorous musings about daily happenings, then you'll get a kick out of Boy vs. Door. Let JD know I sent ya.

YouTube Ads . . .

For those of you who may have missed them, I created three ads for YHT and posted them on YouTube. You can check 'em out here, here, and here.

Quick Post

Word up, peeps! I just wanted to stop in and tell you that I won't be posting the next strip until Wednesday of next week. Trish and I are in Michigan visiting her family, and things got pretty busy during the week which means I didn't have enough time to build up my usual buffer of strips. I know we're sorta in the middle of a crazy storyline right now (I mean, what the heck is going on with Omar anyway?!), but I promise that there's a payoff. Make sure to tune in on Wednesday to see what happens next!!!!

Hugs and kisses,
- Wes

Monday's Molars

Today's Comic

YHT-Shirts . . .

It's been a long time comin', but I'm finally proud to say that Viper and Sketch86 have produced the very first You'll Have That-inspired t-shirt! The new shirt is based on the t-shirt Andy wore in this comic strip. Here's the image emblazoned on the chest of the shirt:

Trish and I got our shirts the other day and I'm pretty excited with how they turned out.

The shirts are only $16.95, and if you order after August 30th (that's this Thursday), you'll get a free YHT button set along with your purchase!

Also, make sure to take a picture of yourself wearing the shirt and send it to me at wesmolebash@gmail.com so I can post your pic on my flickr page. I'll also forward your pic to Sketch86, and if they choose to publish your pic on their site you'll score a free t-shirt! Pretty rad, eh! So get ta orderin'!

Yeah, I Said It

Today's Comic

My Apologies . . .

I apologize to those of you who may be offended by my use of the term "douche bag" in today's strip. I tried to think of alternative terms and phrases, but none were as funny as "douche bag". Tune in tomorrow for a non-"douche bag" comic strip. :)

Coolness . . .

If you check out the website for the Mid-Ohio-Con, you'll see I'm listed on the roster of guests right underneath David Mack. That's both weird and cool at the same time.

Back in the Saddle

Today's Comic

Vacation's Over . . .

I'm back on YHT duty after a nice little two-week break. I only intended to be off for the five days leading up to and during the San Diego Comic Con, but I received nine guest strips. So my five days off turned into ten days off with the help of a crappy workshop comic strip. :) Thanks for your patience, dear readers! And thanks to all creators who helped me out with guest strips the past two weeks. It's always fun to see the various takes on my characters.

My batteries are recharged and I'm looking forward to the next few weeks of YHT. It should be a lot of fun!

Mike Wieringo . . .

I, like many others in the blogosphere, did not personally know Mr. Wieringo, nor have I ever talked with him through e-mails or message board chats. Mr. Wieringo's influence on me was relatively quiet, as I read his blog everyday and was inspired by his short musings about art, comics, and life.

I had stopped reading superhero comics back in middle school, but I recently picked up a couple issues of Friendly Neighborhood Spiderman simply because Mike was drawing them. Mike Wieringo had a classic drawing style. His drawings weren't bogged down with excessive lines and details that have become so prevalent in comic art today. His artwork also had more of a "cartoony" feel to it than most other comic artists, which is probably what attracted me to his work.

One of the things I enjoyed most about reading Mike's blog was noticing that he didn't take himself too seriously. By all intents and purposes, Wieringo was a very successful comic book artist who did work for both DC and Marvel. But you never heard him talk about wanting to "push the medium" or feeling "trapped by the man". Mike just loved to draw comics. Plain and simple. He had the same aspirations of being a sought-after-cartoonist that he had up until the day he passed away, which is probably another reason why I was attracted to his art.

Mr. Wieringo's death is shocking and untimely. But I hope his family is able to take some solace in the fact that Mike left his mark on many people, including those, like me, whom he didn't even know existed.

Guest Week Day 9 - The Finale

Jon Scrivens . . .

Today's strip was created by Jon Scrivens. Jon draws an awesome little webcomic called Little Terrors, and you can check it out here.

Tomorrow I'm going to post one of the strips I drew at my cartooning workshop, and next week will be the start of an all new YHT storyline drawn by me. :) I'm back in the saddle, baby!

Fleened . . .

Anne Thalheimer over at Fleen wrote a nice little blog entry about You'll Have That today. It's nice to get a nod from those guys. I've been a fan of their website for awhile now, but they never seemed to respond to any of my press releases or e-mails. In the end, my efforts paid off hence the title of the blog entry - All Due Diligence. :)

Guest Week Day 7

Meaghan Carter . . .

Today's lovely cartoon was provided by Meaghan Carter. Thanks, Meaghan!

YHT One-Shot . . .

The You'll Have That one-shot should be in comic stores tomorrow. But in case you're comic shop didn't order it, you can buy it right now from the Viper shop!

Once you guys get your hands on the one-shot, please let me know what you think of it! I'd love to have some feedback on the "floppy" issue of the book compared to the trades.

YHT on Digital Strips . . .

The Geek over at Digital Strips wrote a nice little blog entry about all the crap that's been going in YHT-land lately. Apparently, he likes my videos over at Operator11. Remember Operator11? Did you guys enjoy those videos? I really should record more . . .

Guest Week Day 6

Mike Alonso . . .

Today's guest strip was created by Mike "Tanukitsune" Alonso. Mike has created several animated pixel .gifs for a bunch of great cartoonists, so it's fun to see his take on my characters. You may remember he made a .gif for Andy and Katie a while back:

Guest Week Day 5

Scott Gallatin . . .

Today's strip is provided by Scott Gallatin. Not only is Scott a talented cartoonist, he is also one of the co-hosts on The Gigcast, an awesome webcomic podcast. You may remember that I was interviewed on The Gigcast a little while back. It's still one of my favorite interviews I've ever been a part. Go check it out.

YHT in Wizard Magazine . . .

The YHT one-shot is featured in this month's Wizard Magazine (#191) in the Indie Buzz section of the Secret Stash. Here's what Wizard has to say about my little comic strip:
It's not often that webcomics make a successful transition from online to the printed page, so it speaks volumes that this heavenly little bastard has become one of the favored comics around the Wizard offices. Spotlighting the hilarious life of newlyweds Andy and Katie, this one-shot collects the best of 2006's online strips by Wes Molebash, with a brand-new cover from Scott Kurtz (PvP) so easily accessible for new readers it may as well be the first issue. With a precise vision of male geek life and the hotties who love us, YHT will have you cracking up and wondering how Molebash snuck a camera into your life.
How rad is that?! Not only do they refer to my comic as a "heavenly bastard", but they also call it by it's moniker "YHT". Only the hardcore fans of YHT call it "YHT"! So that means the Wizard peeps are hardcore fans! Man, that's gotta score me some crazy street cred!

The Internet and Videogames Killed Street Football . . .

It's a weird feeling knowing that I'm among the last generation of people who remember life without the internet and 3D videogames. But some of my fondest memories from my childhood have nothing to do with Nintendo or the Apple IIe (even though Oregon Trail was one of the greatest games ever created - and don't shake your head "no"; it's not my fault you always failed at fjording the river!)

One of my favorite activities as a child was playing street football. We used to play with the Nerf Turbo football, and we would play until the street lights came on. Driveways were perfect end zones. The line of scrimmage was almost always a snot hocker that someone would spew on the ground, and the first-down-marker was a car parked along the street or a tree in someone's yard. Many arguments were had as we tried to line up trees and automobiles to the exact point of the first down. There was always one narcissistic kid who wanted to play tackle football in the road, so we didn't invite him to play much.

Nowadays, you're hard pressed to find any kids out playing ball in the summertime. I drive by my old neighborhood everyday, and rarely do I see kids playing football or driveway basketball, riding bikes, dragging wiffle ball bats, or toting squirt guns. It's somewhat disheartening to think that my children won't partake in any of these activities.

However, today I was caught by quite a surprise. As I was driving home, I saw two teenage boys tossing a football in the street. I could hardly believe it. I wanted to pull my car over, jump out, and give them a hug - but that would've been weird. Instead, I continued driving to my house and thought about all the good times I had as a kid playing football with my friends. Those were good days. Speaking of "good days", here's a little Bruce Springsteen for ya:

Glory daaays! Yeah, they'll pass you by! Glory daaaaays! In the wink of a young girl's eye!

Just kidding. That was corny.

Guest Week Day Two

Jesse Keifer . . .

Today's strip was created by longtime YHT reader, Jesse Keifer. You can check out more of his artwork here and his martial arts here. Jesse is truly a "jack of all trades". Thanks for the strip, Jesse!
