Wes Molebash on Zuda Comics!
*UPDATE*
Thanks to everyone who's voted so far and left comments! I forgot to mention that you should also add my comic to your favorites as well! You'll see the option right next to the strip under the vote button! Thanks guys!
Today, Monday, March 3, my new comic strip "The Litterbox Chronicles" debuts on zudacomics.com. If you're unfamiliar with Zuda, I'll give you a quick description of the site and how it operates: Zuda is a website owned by DC Comics (publishers of Batman and Superman) that was launched last October. In December, the site began holding monthly competitions among 8 comics creators vying for a contract from Zuda Comics. In order to win, a creator must receive the highest number of votes among all the competitors. The votes are placed by readers who visit the site during the competition. Think of it as American Idol for cartoonists.
The best part of this whole deal is that I get paid. I'll make $500 just for being in the competition, and I'll earn an additional $12500 if I win. As you can imagine, I really want to win!
I don't know if you guys remember, but I posted several "Litterbox" strips in the YHT message boards for you guys and gals to comment on. You guys really helped me out when it came to the designs of the characters and the title of the strip. Well now it's up and it's being published at Zuda! I think that's pretty rad!
So now we've come to the part where I ask for your help. Before I ask for your help, however, I'd like to provide a direct link to "The Litterbox Chronicles". You can check it out at the following address:
http://zudacomics.com/node/326
Okay, now that you've got the site address, here's how you can help:
1. Vote for my comic. To do this, you must register at Zuda. It's simple and it's free. At the top, right-hand side of the site you'll see a button that says "Sign Up!". Click that button and follow the steps. If you've ever signed up for anything on the internet, you'll speed through the Zuda sign-up with flying colors. Once you're logged in, you can vote for my comic (or any comic on the site for that matter).
It's important to note that you only get ONE vote per user name for the entire month. So don't worry about coming back everyday to vote - it won't work. Also, please don't make up a bunch of different user names to stuff the ballot box. I appreciate the effort, but DC Comics checks IP addresses - they'll be able to tell if multiple votes are coming from the same computer. If anything looks suspicious they'll discount ALL the votes. So just play it safe and vote once!
2. Give me five stars. When viewing my comic, you'll see a series of five stars under the big "VOTE" button. Click on the fifth star to give me a five-star rating. According to the website, Zuda pays attention to the ratings, as well as the votes, that each comic earns from its readers.
3. Leave comments. Zuda also says that they take into account how many comments are left on each comic strip's page. The comments can be viewed directly underneath each comic. To leave a comment, simply scroll down to the bottom of the page and you'll see a field that says "Post a comment". Type your comment in the field and hit "preview comment". Simple as that.
If you guys and gals have time to do those three steps, I'd truly truly truly appreciate it!
In case any of you would like to do more to help me out, there are a few things that you could do that would be super helpful:
- You could blog about my involvement in the competition and let your readers know how to place their votes.
- You could send out a bulletin on Myspace or Facebook and let your friends know what's going down with my comic strip.
- You could spread the word on any message boards or community websites that you visit.
- You could e-mail your friends and let them know how they can support an awesome, yet starving, cartoonist!
Thanks for all your help, and feel free to ask me any questions in the comments section of the blog!

12:36 PMThanks, Geoff!
12:51 PM- Wes
Awesome news, Wes! You prompted me to finally register on Zuda and I've already cast my vote. Good luck!
12:54 PMThanks guys, I appreciate it!
1:00 PM- Wes
Dude, I think Andy is coming off as too prudish. Don't get me wrong, I don't drink beer either, but to walk in a room where something like "crazy coeds" is on the screen and have that type of reaction? Andy and his pal look like they just walked into a murder or something.
8:48 PMI make no apologies. If Andy is a prude, that means I'm a "super prude". Porno is bad stuff. Especially if you're married and you're trying to be respectful to your wife.
11:30 PMThere's much more to this storyline than Andy's prudishness, though.

Brock's comment goes ditto for me! Best to ya Wes!
11:45 PMThanks, Justin! I appreciate it, man!
11:46 PM- Wes
Woot, congrats Wes! I'll go vote for you now.
2:48 AMI have attempted to read your new comic several times, but Zuda comics crashes my web browser, anyone else using Opera having this issue?
11:18 AMWes! Great comic on Zuda! It's awesome to see more work, it's great! Did I say it's great!?
11:21 AMAnyways, best of luck to ya.
Also, about the current story line with YHT... poor Andy, I think it's time to leave. And then you pulled out an unexpected, crazy, punch in the gut twist! What's going to come of this!? My eye's literally opened to the size of big round silver dollars in suprize. Poor Andy... poor Steve!! They knew the party would be bad, but it's really turning out to be a trainwreck for both of them now! You've got me on the edge of my seat. Well done Wes, you are talented indeed.
Mike - I use Firefox. The Zuda site has a funky "comic reader" that is more cumbersome than it is intuitive. That could be what's crashing your browser.
11:24 AMSteve - Glad you're enjoying the storyline. I've had this arc brewing in my mind for well over a year, now, and I finally decided to write it. I really hope people enjoy the payoff.
