Entervyood

Rick Marshall over at ComicMix.com interviewed me about a week ago, and we talked about YHT and Litterbox Chronicles. The interview is now up for your reading pleasure, and it's a dandy!

For the record, Rick Marshall is a super nice guy. He's been very supportive of YHT, and he's one of the reasons YHT got a nod in Wizard Magazine last August while he was an editor at the Wizard website. Unfortunately, Wizard had to make several cutbacks in its workforce, and Rick (along with a handful of other webcomic-supporting-editors) were laid off from the company. But now Rick is bringing the webcomic love to ComicMix.com, which makes me very happy.

I also wanted to say that the "guy at DC" I refer to in the interview is my friend Jordan Gorfinkle. Jordan found my comic through Viper last summer, and we've been talking off and on ever since then. He worked for DC as an editor for Batman, and he was one of the folks responsible for bringing "Birds of Prey" together as a monthly title. Not only is Jordan very accomplished in the world of comics, but he's also one of the nicest people I've ever had the chance to meet.

When I was at SDCC last summer, Jordan introduced me to a bunch of guys at DC. At one point I was standing with Jordan in a small circle of DC editors as they reminisced and caught up on each other's lives. One of the guys in the group was none other than freakin' Dan Didio, the editor-in-chief of DC Comics! So I'm standing there like a toolbag holding a bunch of my comic books next to Dan Didio as he chats with these editors who are friends with Jordan. It was kinda surreal to think that I was only 3- or 4-degrees separated from the editor-in-chief of DC Comics.

While we were in the DC booth, Jordan took me over to the Wildstorm section of the booth to meet Scott Peterson - one of the Wildstorm editors. I remember Jordan saying, "Scott, I want you to meet my friend, Wes Molebash." And Scott Peterson said, "Wes Molebash! I love your comic!" And then I peed my pants because an editor at Wildstorm was familiar with my work.

Not only has Jordan introduced me to a handful of cool people, but he's also a very genuine person. We don't talk very often, but every once in a while I'll get an e-mail from him asking how I'm doing. I've also been able to bounce a lot of ideas off of him, and he's always got some great advice. He's one of the finest Americans there is.

Anyway, I really appreciate Jordan's friendship, and I didn't want his awesomeness to be drowned in the ambiguity of "that guy at DC". Jordan, if you're reading this, you rock, dude! I know we live on opposite ends of the state, but we should have lunch sometime.

On one last note, I'll be out of town all weekend with my wife and parents. We're going to visit my sister in Minneapolis, MN, and I won't be back in my office until Tuesday afternoon. So there won't be a new comic strip on Monday, but I'll try to get a twofer up on Wednesday.

I've run across Jordan's name reading a few DC titles. I want to say that I think he was an Assistant Editor on The Batman Adventures.
