Universe: 1, Wes Molebash: 0

Today's Comic

You Win THIS TIME, Universe . . .

Life has finally caught up with me and punched me in the face, people. Hence the lack of a new comic strip today. Unfortunately, there won't be any new comics this week as I have fallen behind in my drawing, and my regular work schedule has kicked into overdrive this week.

2007 has thus far been the busiest year of my life, both personally and with the comic strip. I thought things would finally slow down after the San Diego Comic Con, but things have remained steady if not a little busier. While being busy is definitely a good thing, I was woefully unprepared for all this stuff! I used to be a week ahead in the drawing of my comic strip, but the last few months I've only been a day ahead! I'll scramble to get back on track only to get sidetracked by something else that needs my attention.

The final nail in the coffin came this weekend. I had all my drawing boards prepared on Friday to get some serious cartooning done this weekend, but I ended up getting stuck working TWO 16-hour shifts at work - one on Saturday and one on Sunday. Bye bye weekend. On top of that, I've got to work three 12-hour shifts this week, and my mother-in-law is coming to town tomorrow evening for a visit. The idea of trying to stay on top of the comic strip this week seemed quite daunting, so I've decided to do something different this week.

YHT is coming up on it's third anniversary! Hard to believe I've been doing this for three years! So, I thought I'd publish the first five comic strips of the series along with a little commentary in the blog. I think it'll be a fun retrospective, so be sure to let me know what you think!

New comics begin next Monday with a tasty little storyline! More character development is comin'!

Apple Store . . .

This is the comic I consider to be the first YHT comic strip. It's currently hanging in the landing of the first floor staircase in my house. When we first launched YHT at Viper, we did a "soft launch" on the message boards by posting one strip a week for three weeks just to get a "buzz" going. The Apple Store strip was the first of those strips, and it's based on personal experiences.

When my wife and I first started dating, she told me about how much she hated Apple computers. She had had a bad experience with an Apple a couple years prior to our meeting, and it left a bad taste in her mouth. In fact, you couldn't even mention the word "Apple" around Tricia without her rolling her eyes in disgust!

There's a mall in Columbus that Trish and I frequent, and I always like to visit the Apple Store to see what's new. Until recently, Tricia hated the Apple Store and refused to go in with me. However, things change over the course of a three-year marriage, and Tricia, upon seeing her brother's brand new MacBook, found herself in dire need of a new laptop. But not just any laptop. It had to be a MacBook. So now my wife taps around on her MacBook and I feel as though she has morphed into a different person. I don't know who this woman is anymore, and, frankly, I'm scared.

Oh yes, MacBooks change lives. I discipline my children by making them computerize on a Sony Vaio.
