You'll Have That - The Lost Episodes: The First Submission!

Today's Lost Episode

"More Leg Room Than Your Truck" . . .

I know nothing about cars. I try to act like I know the lingo, but often times it just makes me look like a fool. Today's Lost Episode is no exception.

When I sent this first submission of comic strips to newspaper syndicates back in 2003, I also shipped this submission off to my good friend, Jef Mallett, for a critique. Jef, being a great mentor and one hell of a model American, gave me some wonderful advice concerning these strips. Among the tidbits of advice he gave me, Jef alerted me to the fact that the cylinders in a car engine are positioned either "in a line" or "in a 'V'". Never both as it would be impossible.

I could try to cover up my snafu by saying that the car salesman obviously doesn't know what he's talking about, and then hope that everyone feels comfortable with the disingenuous stereotype I've made. But it's much easier to let it go and claim the mistake as simply that - a mistake. A mistake made by a guy who knows nothing about cars but wants people to think he knows stuff about cars.

Well....

Cylinders can't be in-line and v simultaneously, true, however (and here is another out for you), the mounting style of the engine is often referred to as either "inline" or "transverse". So you could make the claim that it was an inline mounted, V-12 motor. :D

Thanks for the 411, Greg. I don't feel like such a schmo, now. :)
