It's Friday, Yo

Today's Comic

Christopher Titus . . .

A while back I mentioned my discovering Christopher Titus' Norman Rockwell is Bleeding comedy special on Comedy Central. I really enjoyed the special, and I found out after watching it that Christopher Titus also had a TV show on Fox called Titus. The entire show was pretty much based off his entire Norman Rockwell act, and it's hilarious! It ran for three seasons before being cancelled.

Well, I went to Wal-Mart yesterday and bought the DVDs for seasons one and two. According to an interview with Titus in the "Extras" section, the show was cancelled for pushing the envelope and not for bad ratings. In fact, when the show was cancelled it had higher ratings than two other shows that Fox decided to keep, and was also nominated for an Emmy award. It is a very dark comedy in that it makes fun of emotional abuse, womanizing, death, suicide, infidelity, mental illness, etc., so it's easy to see why Fox might've been afraid of it lasting any longer. Still, it's a shame because that show was freakin' funny.

I haven't watched all the DVDs yet, but I've seen nine episodes so far. Lots of laugh-out-loud stuff.

Christopher Titus and I have something in common in that we base almost all of our comedy on our personal lives. Even though Titus is edgier than I'll ever be, it's still awesome to see someone pour so much of themselves into their creation.

. . . .

Hope you guys have had a great week. Enjoy the weekend while I'm at work slaving away to pay the bills. :(

I heard an interview with him after the show was cancelled and he said what happened was he was in a meeting about the show with several "suits" who kept suggesting stuff that didn't fit the characters. At one point he said "Have you even seen the show?" to who was, essentially, his boss. They cancelled him not long after that.

That pretty much just sucks since it was a very funny show.

We loved that show when it was on! It did cover some "dark/heavy" subjects, but I didn't think it was any more flippant than Malcolm in the Middle has been for several seasons.

His comedy is great.

I love Titus, that show pwns. My friend who works at future shop was able to get me a copy for under $10, too. =D

I definitely wish I had more time to watch it. XD

I really liked the Titus show and I liked his comedy even before the Norman Rockwell is bleeding stuff. He's one funny guy.

Titus is one of the best sitcoms i've ever seen. Most of the time he'd act like he had pure energy-drink running through his veins.
One of the best characters of the show was his father though... wussy! hahaha

However i still stand by my opinion that M*A*S*H 4077 is the best show EVER. if anyone doesn't know the show they've mist a part of vital education!

I really like the character of Titus' brother, Dave. He's freakin' hilarious. FYI: The dude who plays Dave played the bully in A Christmas Story.
