Rocket

I choose rocket! I've been having this idea about a food takeout/delivery service with rockets, but she ended up looking like a rocket nomad.

ATTENTION: Viper Creators

I've sent out a number of blog invites to as many Viper creators as I can find e-mails for, but it seems that some of them have slipped through the cracks and possibly ended up filtered as spam by your e-mail providers.

If you're a Viper creator, you think you haven't been invited and want in on this blog . . . shoot me an e-mail at: otisframpton@yahoo.com!

Hall & Oates (or Cody)

This was a ton of fun, Ben's sketch was just loose enough that I could add enough of my own style that made it fun. He usually inks his stuff much tighter so this should provide a different take. I took his sketch, pasted it in a 300 dpi file, re-sized it and printed it in blueline. Then I inked it, scanned it in and dumped the blue channel. Easy as pie, and loads of fun. Took about 20 minutes or so. Maybe less. I have a hi-res file too, if you need it Benny.

This is the first drawing I did of the Fairy Hunter chick, the eye and head shape was from a discarded sketch by Brock, that I stole and finished the rest.

Punk!

a character I created at the Viper booth in San Diego. She is determined to wipe out the world's fairy population. Here she is about to drop the hammer on a fairly hollow. Poor fairies.

Week One

It looks like people are responding to the invitations. Only a few hold-outs left.

In the meantime, let's set some ground rules for posting and comments . . . just one rule, actually: keep it clean and respectful. Comments will remain open, but any defametory or crude language will not be accepted.

Okay, on with the show . . .

As stated in the initial post, there will be weekly themes here at Snake Bites. But feel free to share anything you like in your posts. And if you like, keep people up to date with current and future projects!

The weekly themes will be posted every Monday, but the first round starts today and will last until September 4th, to let people get settled in here at the new blog. Each week's entry will offer two choices to use as the basis for your sketch or illustration. This is week one:

Feel free to suggest new words for the coming weeks.

Have fun guys, and thanks for showing up!

Hooters Zombie

Here's a digital sketch I just recently finished.

Usually I'll draw something on actual paper, scan it in and then color it on the computer. This one was created 100% in the computer. I didn't have anything planned when I started this image, it just kind of happened.. which is why I like it.

This blog should be fun. What a good idea.

First Post!

My name is Ryan Cody and I'm the co-creator and artist on VILLAINS. I just wrapped "post-production" on issue #4 this morning, it is very late, but I am also very pleased with the results. Here is a teaser image from the issue by myself and Mister Russ Lowery on hues.

23-copy

I'm looking forward to this blog becoming something very cool, also feel free to zoom on over to my collaborator blog SKETCHJAM!, which features posts by myself and a host of other amazingly talented fellas.

Welcome to Snake Bites!

This will (hopefully) become the sketch blog for artists working on projects for Viper Comics. The idea is that we have a weekly subject or theme and everyone posts a quick (or not so quick) drawing/illustration based on the idea of the week.

Now all I have to do is invite everyone, so check back soon!
